Infinite Movement – II | VU Amsterdam (NL) 1992

The sculpture Infinite Movement – II is a continuation of my sand-coloured ceramic objects from the Galaxy series (1989–1993) and my first major commission for public space.

The sculpture is based on the circle as an archetype: the fundamental form of life, without beginning or end. At its centre lies a point of rest from which movement arises. This interplay between stillness and movement forms the core of my work: capturing the essence of growth, movement, and transformation.

Since its installation, the sculpture has been relocated several times on the campus: from the Campus Square (until 2013), to the grassy embankment along the Buitenveldertselaan near the W&N building and in 2025 to the waterfront near the Main Building of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.

Location: Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam Hoofdgebouw, corner of Buitenveldertselaan / De Boelelaan, Amsterdam.
