The International Glass Symposium IGS was first held in 1982. The Glassworks Crystalex in Novy Bor invited artists and designers from all over the world to realize their ideas with the assistance of local glass makers. Since then, once every three years, the top glass artists get together and work in the hot and cold workshops together with the glass makers, before amateur and professional public, to demonstrate their art. Over years, hundreds of artists participated. The International Glass Symposium became a world unique and prestigious event, a meeting place and a symbol of creativity and of new possibilities in the world of glass.

The Gallery Handwerk in Munich dedicates its autumn exhibition to the subject of “bees” and the various references that can be made in the field of craftsmanship and art in the interaction between bees and humans. For millennia, the care and breeding of bees plays an important role in the winning of materials like honey and wax.
Gallery Handwerk shows the influence of the employment of bees. The honeycomb as a formal structure and the bee as a motif on ceramics, glass, in jewelery or as an installation.

Voor True Beauty maakte het Stedelijk museum Breda een keuze uit de mooiste beelden uit de wetenschap van de 21ste eeuw. Foto’s, visualisaties en animaties van internationale toponderzoekers worden afgewisseld met het werk van kunstenaars die zich laten inspireren door de wetenschap.
De Bredase kunstenaar Hubert Leyendeckers neemt in de tentoonstelling een centrale plaats in. Daarnaast zijn er werken van Flavie Audi (FR), Franck Bragigand (FR), Herbert W.
